About the project
Maria Romero Castillo es mi nombre y apellido.
This project collects the verses of María, my neighbor and family member, written about her life. In raw, unfiltered language, María speaks of God, of hunger, of fear—and what it meant to grow up as an Andalusian girl in post-war Spain.
I chose to preserve her original spelling and form: poetic, rough, and deeply honest. A testimony that doesn’t aim for perfection, but for truth.
